Scanning and restoration
If you're like me, you've got a collection of old family photos or documents
that have seen better days. With modern scanners and imaging software, it's
possible to restore them for future generations to enjoy. If you don't want to
invest in the equipment or don't have the time, I can help. I have the latest
high-resolution Canon scanner which will scan documents and photographs up to A4
(216 x 297mm) plus 35mm, 120 and 127 negatives and slides. Below you'll find a
couple of examples that should give you an idea of what's possible.
 | The image on the left is from a badly faded and creased family photograph taken in about 1890.
Thanks to the latest image editing software it's possible to restore the image in much the same way as a picture restorer would an old master.
Even if the original looks beyond hope, it's possible to recover much of the detail.

 | The image on the left is from a postcard-sized photo on satin-finish paper.
It had been left in the sun and had faded. The result was never going to be of exhibition quality but
the finished image is now a valuable record of
a much-loved horse in action.
