About ERP Imaging
ERP Imaging may be a relatively new venture but it's roots go back a long way.
I first became interested in photography when I was about 10. I was given a Kodak Brownie 127 - which I still have.
I didn't take many photos with it but significantly the subjects included Cheltenham Horse Show and a local Hunt.
Later, while I was still at school, I started a Photographic Society and amongst other exploits I provided the imaging for many
of the school's activities such as the plays.
By now I had a pony of my own and I was recording local Horse Shows - when
I wasn't competing. This, of course, was the era of B&W film and not only was I taking the photos,
I was developing and printing them in my own darkroom to save costs and speed up the process. I was
often able to deliver finished photos on the same day that I'd taken them. That, of course, is something
we take for granted these days with digital technology and modern communications systems.

After many years of riding a change of direction took me away from horses. I've now
been involved in high-profile international motorsport for nearly 25 years. It has been a period of huge technological
change and I've had the opportunity to use all the latest CAD tools in the fields of both electronics
and mechanical design. The marriage of these two disciplines continues to tempt with the promise of virtual development.
I've always been involved with technical authoring but I have recently had the privelege of writing for a well-respected
technical magazine. I was also invited to contribute a chapter to a flagship technical book, for which I provided both the text
and the illustrations.
In my spare time I have walked extensively in the UK, spending many days backpacking on our
National Trails and hillwalking in the mountains of Wales and the Lake District. Most of the photos you'll see
in the Landscape Gallery were
taken with a tiny Pentax compact. Wherever I've gone, I've always taken a camera.
This period has seen big changes in the world of photography. Development of digital imaging has, in honesty,
rendered film obsolete. Even the early mid-range digital cameras offered an improvement in quality compared with film
and today's cameras offer peformance that film would never achieve. The techniques haven't changed and the knowlege that
comes from years of taking photos is still relevant today.

In 2010 I returned to the world of horses and with digital technology having moved
on dramatically in recent years, the interest in equine photography was
rekindled. I started by covering events for friends (when I wasn't competing)
but such has been the level of interest, that I have now started covering a range of
sporting events as teh official photographer. This site has been created to offer photos
and imaging services.
Although I have many photos from my early days, I have very few of myself competing. I was, of course, behind
the camera most of the time. The few photos I was given are very precious but they are in a poor state. Fortunately
the advances in technology that have revolutionised photography have also enabled me to rejuvenate these few valuable images.
I'm sufficiently encouraged by the results that can be achieved from really poor
quality photos that I am offering this service to others. I've also been scanning all my database of negatives
and the early photos you'll see here are the result. They're now preserved for posterity.
Memories are precious. It's very easy to miss the opportunity to capture a special moment. This is the background
to ERP Imaging and it explains why I'm happy to offer the services you'll find described on this site.
